A rapidly expanding SaaS company, having faced a substantial layoff due to economic hardships, is now scaling up. In response, they have eliminated their entire HR department and retained only basic HR functions. The company has requested a comprehensive review of all HR aspects and recommendations for effectively updating, implementing, and maintaining standard HR functions moving forward.
Action:
I conducted a thorough review of all HR aspects and identified six key areas for improvement:
1. Regulatory Compliance: Updated the employee handbook and addressed multi-state tax requirements.
2. Employment Documentation: Covered both W2 employees and contractors.
3. Role Management and Performance Reviews: Streamlined role management and implemented performance review processes.
4. Benefits Administration: Administered medical, 401(k), and PTO policies effectively.
5. Hiring Process Standardization: Developed state-specific strategies for hiring process standardization.
6. Strategic Planning for Documentation: Created a strategic plan for documentation management.
